Larger River Stone Step-by-Step Instructions

1) Take a palm-sized solid ball of clay and divide it in two equal parts.

2) Roll each part into its own ball.

3) Press your thumb into the center of ball 1 and twist the ball while pinching to make a pinch pot. Try not to puncture the bottom of your pot with your thumb!

4) Repeat step 3 with your second ball of clay.

5) Take both pinch pots and put their lips together, creating a rough, hollow ball form.

6) Smooth the seam between the pots firmly but gently, taking care not to dent them in.

7) Now you have a clay ball with trapped air! Roll it on the table or between your palms to smooth it out and begin pushing and pinching to form. Use any texture you’d like, or carve away!

8) When you are done, place your large, hollow river stone in the “Larger River Stones” section. This is when a host will come over to poke a tiny hole into your stone to let the air escape!
