Influx

A solo exhibition at High Low Gallery, St. Louis Missouri 09-42-26 through 01-10-27

Influx is an installation of ceramics, paperworks, and painting by artist Sarah Knight. This exhibition draws connections between the resilience of queer and transgender communities and the natural world. Inspired by patterns in nature—like rocks, minerals, and underground systems—the work imagines new ways of living and growing that value individuality and expression over rigid systems.

The works in Influx call upon an undercurrent of transmutation and alchemy in the non-human world, looking for spaces that might protect both queerness and nature from erasure. Using materials such as clay, ash, stone, and handmade ink, Knight creates layered, tactile pieces that embrace transformation. Influx invites viewers to consider how both people and nature adapt in challenging times, and offers a space to reflect on survival, memory, and the possibility of more inclusive ways of being.
